Bible Study Essentials

Here are some recommendations for things that can help you get the most out of our Bible study:

1. A Catholic Bible
Of course, any Bible will work for this Bible study, so whatever you have will work fine. If you are interested, though, here is our ideal: 

The Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) is the translation used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and in our Turning to God's Word study books. 

Here are some recommended editions of the RSV-CE:

Here is an online version of the RSV-CE (only the first edition is available online. This edition uses some archaic language such as "Thou and Thy" which has been updated in the 2nd edition.)

Ignatius Bible: available in paperback or leather   
Catholic Bible Press: thin, leather-like cover, comfortable font size  
Dynamic Catholic: available in paperback or leather. The single column format is nice. 

Tabs for your Bible: These are very popular to help you easily located things in your Bible. Here are some from Ascension Press that coordinate with their well-loved Bible Timeline. 

2. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is useful for shedding light on difficult passages and for avoiding problems related to misinterpretation of Scripture. Go here to learn more about the Catechism including "10 Tips to Make Using the Catechism Easier."

Paperback edition from Libreria Editrice Vaticana.
Ascension Press, large print, beautiful, leather-like cover, easiest to use (costly, but well worth it in our opinion).
Ascension Press, paperback cover (less expensive than the leather-like edition but same content)
Mass Market Paperback, this little guy is cheaper and easy to carry to class for quick reference. 

TABS! Jennifer loves these. Just as you can put tabs in your Bible, you can put tabs in your Catechism. Makes finding things easier!
